Traumatic events are especially difficult for us to think about when children are involved. Whatever the tragic event, the effects stay with that child for the rest of their life. How they deal with that tragic event can affect their behaviors and health as adults. One study by the CDC estimates that adulthood depression could be decreased by 44% if childhood trauma could be prevented. However, children are already dealing with mental issues from events in their lives. According to the North Carolina Child Health Report Card, in 2019 suicide became the number one cause of death in children ages 10 to 14 with 1 in 5 high schoolers reporting seriously contemplating suicide in 2021. Just in North Carolina more than 1 in 10 children are diagnosed with depression or anxiety ages 3-17. This proves the need is great. Our children are suffering before they can even reach adulthood.

Goodness & Glory Farm wants to help these children (ages 5 to 18) and their families dealing with traumatic events find His goodness and see His glory free of charge. Whether the trauma is physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse, neglect, violence, illness, or death of a loved one, we know that goodness and healing can be found in Jesus Christ. By pairing mentors and farm animals with these hurting children; true healing is possible by pointing these children to the goodness and glory that is clearly evident in God’s creation. The stories found in the garden, on the trails, and around the animals will help to facilitate the beginning of healing and the discovery that there is good to be found.

Our vision is that every hurting child would find God’s goodness, see His glory, and experience true healing.
