We are a 501-3c non-profit that pairs children in crisis with a mentor and farm animals on a 4 acre farm in Carteret County, NC. We hope that through this program these hurting children find His goodness and see His glory.

Our Story

Our Story

Nicki experienced the intense fear and worry cancer brings when both her parents were diagnosed with breast cancer within a 3 month span, followed by her mother in law’s diagnosis of lung cancer. Looking for ways to keep her family healthy led Nicki to gardening and animal husbandry. Both were places where she found solace and healing. Heather walked with her family through the harsh reality of sexual abuse. In an attempt to find peace, her family participated in an equine mentorship ministry that brought healing to them all. Both found His goodness, healing, and glory in the outdoors. Now they want to make this resource available to children who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity.

Being a mom is the one thing I can honestly say that I have always wanted to be. Babies and children have always drawn me in. I’m so thankful for the 7 children God blessed me with. Not only have I had the chance to raise my own children, but I have had the privilege to work with kids in many different settings. In my teens, my favorite thing to do was babysit. During college I worked in group homes for children and adults with mental and physical delays. After earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Elon University I married my husband Wes and entered into full time pastoral ministry where I began to work with children through Wednesday night classes and as the children’s church director. Children have a special place in my heart! About 6 years ago we had to navigate a crisis as a family. I’ve found His goodness and seen His glory while experiencing healing when one of my children participated in a similar mentor/animal-based program. After that experience I began to pray for God to use us and what we had been through for His glory. I am grateful and in awe just how He has done that with Goodness & Glory Farm.

As a homeschooling mom of six; my favorite place to be is outside with my children on my .5 acre homestead in Carteret County. My roots run deep here in Carteret County where I was born and raised, where I met and married my high school sweetheart at 18. I attended Welch Bible College and received my Psychology and Learning degree. During College I had the opportunity each semester to volunteer in the public school system as a teacher’s aid, elementary ESL and special education volunteer. When I returned to Carteret County after college I was able to be heavily involved in my home church’s ministry and outreach programs, homeschooling co-ops and assist in our local 4-H club as a leader. In the past 2 years, God has put a desire in my heart to share our little homestead animals with children in crisis who need an outlet in Carteret County. My hope is to help children develop a habit of tasting and seeing that God is good by getting outside with his creation and developing a relationship with Him.
